What we do
Hook – Suburbian Paradise
Hook, based in the Royal London Borough of Kingston upon Thames, is located 13 miles southwest of Charing Cross. It was a civil parish, which formed part of the Surbiton Urban District in Surrey. It became a municipal borough in 1936 and in 1965 and its former area was transferred to Greater London. Hook parade includes a number of shops, which are Pizza Hut, Ladbrokes, Budgens, Greggs, Boots, Florist, Newsagents, as well as a library and a pub. Hook comes under the postcode of KT9 and currently comes under the Chessington district. An RAF barrage balloon depot has been opened in Hook since 1938 and was later known as RAF Chessington. Only 3 surviving buildings exist in Hook, two of which are on Hook road, just north of Chessington. Many former 18th and 19th-Century Houses have been redeveloped or were destroyed during World War Two. Surrounding areas include Epsom, Mole Valley, as well as Ewell and Elmbridge. Transport links are few and the nearest station to Hook is Kingston mainline station, that serves most of the area.
